Breaking the monotony of Visual Studio

At DePaul, Visual Studio is the recommended IDE for CS students taking the C++ sequences, as opposed to java or symbolic programming. To be honest, I like it, and I really don’t mind using it at all. Of course, the extend of my IDE experience is limited to Eclipse, Net Beans, and the infamous DevC++. I’m able to get schoolwork done without having to fight with the development environment – and that’s perfect. However, I became a little bit tired of the same old color scheme. Thankfully I came across a post by the Caffeinated Coder, regarding visual studio settings files! Just what I needed! A refreshing color scheme that’s easier on the eyes.

Russel, at the Caffeinated Coder was kind enough to link to a directory of nice looking settings for the visual studio editor, created by Scott Hanselman, here.

Currently, I’m using Oren Ellenbogen’s Dark Scheme (seen below), but I plan on giving a few different ones a fair shake as well. You should too.
